Where Football Begins: Working with West Kent SFA
Every player starts somewhere. For many, it’s not in an academy - it’s in school football, local teams, and organisations built on passion and community. The West Kent Schools Football Association is one of those organisations, giving young players across the region the chance to represent their district and develop their game at a higher level.

We spoke with the team to get a better understanding of what they do, and the role partnerships play in keeping grassroots football accessible.
Talk to us a bit more about West Kent SFA
“We are a district playing for many years in the Kent Schools League and also the English Schools Association. We have around 73 primary schools feeding into us and about 15 secondary schools, along with independent schools. From that pool, we select players to represent us in county and national competitions - from under 10s right through to under 14s, boys and girls.”

“The partnership has been incredible. Like all our sponsors, without them the costs can be quite high for some families. Sponsorship allows us to reduce those costs. We also support a number of pupil premium children, so it really helps with things like kit and fees. It’s been a really positive experience.”
Do you think sponsorships like this help grassroots football in general?
“Hugely. With the cost of living being so high, any support that helps keep fees down and allows more children to keep playing is incredibly important and beneficial.”
